THE CORONATION OF THE 35TH SULTAN OF SULU AND NORTH BORNEO
Sultan Phugdalun Kiram II ascended to the throne of 35th Sultan of Sulu on February 6, 2016 at the Sulu Provincial Capitol, Jolo, Sulu, as successors of 33rd Sultan Jamalul Kiram III, 34th Sultan Esmail.Kiram II and Datu Raja Muda Agbimuddin Kiram.
Before ascending to the throne as 35th Sultan of Sulu, he was installed to occupy in succession the FOUR MOST PROMINENT and IMPORTANT POSITIONS in the Sultanate of Sulu, namely: DATU BANDAHARA, DATU MAHARADJA LAILAH, DATU MAHARADJA ADINDAH and DATU RAJA MUDA (CROWN PRINCE).
The afore-mentioned positions were set forth in the 600 YEARS OLD SULU ROYAL GENEALOGY and LAW and ORDER of SUCCESSION to the THRONE OF SULTAN OF SULU MUTUALLY ESTABLISHED in 1450 by 1ST SULTAN SHARIF-UL HASHIM and the BANGSA SULUK/SUG (BURANUN) as REQUIREMENT for the ASCENSION and INSTALLATION of WOULD-BE-SUCCESSOR to the THRONE OF SULTAN OF SULU.
The 35th Sultan Phugdalun Kiram II is married to former MS. HJA. NAWAL TAN of Maimbung, Sulu.
As 35th Sultan of Sulu, he inherited the ADOVACY of their late father, 32nd SULTAN PUNJUNGAN KIRAM, the legally recognized ADMINISTRATOR of the Estate Territory of North Borneo (Sabah) by the BRITISH HIGH COURT in 1939, that, quote: SABAH IS NOT FOR SALE, unquote.
