The legitimacy, remeniscene and legacy of the installation and coronation of then Datu Raja Muda (Crown Prince) Punjungan Kiram to the throne of 32nd Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo and Interim Sultan from 1974 to 1980 of Datu Jamalul Kiram III as the Sulu Sultanate Datu Raja Muda (Crown Prince) held at Plaza Tulay, Jolo, Sulu, in 1980.
Thousands of Bangsa Sug/Suluk and Sulu prominent leaders such as: Pangiyan Sakinur-Inn Kiram, one of the Nine Principal and Rightful Heirs of Sultan Jamalul Kiram II, Mayor Aminkadra Abubakar, Father-In-Law of Sulu (Bangsa Sug) Gov. Abdusakur M. Tan 1, Judge Rene Tulawie, representing the Tulawie Clan, Admiral Romulo Espaldon, representing President F. E. Marcos and Jolo Councilor Jayari Hawari and many others have witnessed the event.
In the Inaguaration, 32nd Sultan Punjungan Kiram declared and annoumced, quote: That Sabah (North Borneo) was the greatest land-grab in modern history committed by the British Crown and Great Britain as it turned it over to Malaysia in 1963 without notification served to the Sultanate of Sulu; and, that Sabah is the patrimony of the Bangsa Sug/Suluk since 1704 and the Filipinos as the United States incorrporated he Sultanate of Sulu into the Philippines in 1935, in spite the MUSLIMS DECLARED ITS OVERWWHELMING NO VOTES in the Referendum held in 1934, unquote.
The picture is about the installation and coronation of the Datu Raja Muda of 31st Sultan Esmail Kiram 1, DATU RAJA MUDA PUNJUNGAN KIRAM, as the 32nd Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo at Plaza Tulay, Jolo, Sulu, in 1980 following the LAW and ORDER OF SUCCESSION to the Throne of Sultan of Sulu and the 600 Years Old Historic Sulu Royal Genealogy.
Placing the Kris, reckoned as the Mother of All Weapons used to defend the Sulu Kingdom, on the shoulder of 32nd SULTAN PUNJUNGAN KIRAM was JOLO MAYOR AMINKADRA ABUBAKAR, Father-in-Law of present Sulu Governor ABDUSAKUR M. TAN 1. Sitting at the right side of the newly installed and crowned Sultan was the newly crowned DATU RAJA MUDA JAMALUL KIRAM. At the left side was PANGIYAN SAKINUR-INN KIRAM, one of the PRINCIPAL and RIGHTFUL HEIRS OF SULTAN JAMALUL KIRAM II duly recognized by the BRITISH HIGH COURT in 1939, and ADMIRAL ROMULO ESPALDON (not seen), who represented PRESIDENT F. E. MARCOS.
YESTERDAY A NEWS; TODAY A LEGACY AND A REMENISCENE
After proper coordination was done with the Military and Civil Authorities in the Sulu Sultanate's ancestral dominions in Sulu and Basilan, in response to the call of the constituents in Luuk and Silangkan Parang, Sulu, and Isabela, Basilan, for the newly and publicly installed 32nd Sultan Punjungan Kiram, His Royal Highness visited his peers in the mentioned localities.
In the glory golden era of the Sulu Sultan's rule and governance, the visit of a newly installed and enthroned Sultan of Sulu was to determine the socio-economic and political conditions of people. It also signified either the confirmation or change of a duly designated leader based on acceptance of his governance by people in his community.
